Abu Dhabi Isles FC from United Arab Emirates – B16
Tell us briefly the history of your club/team?
We were originally founded in 2008 and formed as the Emirates Isles FC. We consisted of players from across the UAE and won 16 tournaments/leagues within the UAE within our age group during that time frame. Due to various logistics we decided to take a break from the football side after our last trip to Dana Cup. We reformed this year and the team has been renamed as the Abu Dhabi Isles FC as we are now made up of Abu Dhabi based players only but still have over 15 different nationalities in the squad!. The team and club have travelled to several tournaments in the past including Gothia Cup 2010 in Sweden, the Welsh Cup in Wales 2011 (which we won) and of course the Dana Cup in 2013 itself. Needless to say we really enjoyed the Dana Cup best of all and it was a great experience for the boys and parents.
Is it your first time at the Dana Cup if not how many times has your club participated?
This will be our second time at the Dana Cup and we are all very excited about returning again. Some of the boys will be their first time and the ones who have been before are already telling the others about it and the fun we all had. That is why we are going back again and we are all really looking forward to the tournament and experience. The whole tournament is so professionally run and the whole town area is really bussing with excitement. Being based in the Middle East it is a long way to travel so if we are going to do the trip then we want to really experience the whole footballing event including the people, culture and social events. This was really amazing the last visit and we look forward to experiencing it all again this time around. Our team motto is "Isles Best By Miles" and we look forward to taking those miles to get to the Dana Cup
What are your goals and expectations for the Dana Cup 2015?
Given our previous visit to Dan Cup and seeing the calibre of teams there, we will not be the strongest of teams there but we will hope to get out of our group and put in some good performances in the group stages. After that every game would be a bonus. Also the experience is just as important and hopefully it is something all the players remember with happy memories later in life. Also for me the coach not to eat too many of the lovely burgers!!
